Book Recommendations

My first introduction into the world outside of my comfort zone was through books.

I started reading when I was around 13. And as a person who loves to read, I always get this feeling that there just isn't enough time in the world to read all the books I would love to read, both classic and new, across different genres. Anyone relates?

I can't honestly fit all the books I have read or speak about them in a single post. So, instead, I've made a list of the top 10 books that had a great impact on my life with its rich ideas or controversial topics that made me pause, reflect on what I assumed I knew, and most definitely, challenged me to think beyond the culture I grew up in.

  1. Man’s Search for Meaning: Viktor Frankl, Psychology

  2.  A Thousand Splendid Suns: Khaled Hosseini, Historical Fiction

  3. The Kite Runner: Khaled Hosseini, Historical Fiction

  4. Shantaram: Gregory David Roberts, Autobiographical Novel

  5. Women Who Run with The Wolves: Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Psychology, Feminism

  6. Open to Desire: Mark Epstein, Psychology

  7. Essays in Love: Alain de Botton, Novel, Fiction, Romance

  8. The Prophet: Gibran Khalil Gibran, Prose Poetry

  9. The Body Keeps the Score: Bessel van der Kolk, Psychology, Self-Help
